Using Passwords to Fight Against Hackers10/31/2018 Using Passwords to Fight Against HackersWith everything transitioning to digital these days, our means of protecting our data feels less within our control. However, we can take responsibility of protecting our information through the passwords we choose for our accounts. As a company who relies heavily on the digital world and technology, we at Creative Consulting are striving to understand and implement what it means to protect data from hackers who prey within the digital world.
While no one can prevent hackers from trying to steal information, one way we can keep them out is with passwords that cannot be easily guessed. This means no longer using the same three passwords we have all used since the seventh grade. That’s right, we know you are guilty of this too. The effectiveness of your password is just as important as the locks on your door or car, they prevent others from getting access to your information. How can we make sure our passwords are strong enough? From what we have learned, length means nothing if it is something personal or easily guessed. A name of someone you know, or the name of a pet does not cut it in this new online world. You need a proper mixture of letters, numbers, capital letters, and symbols- these days some sites you log into will not let you use a password without at least one of each category previously listed. Sadly, you cannot control if you are targeted by hackers, but at least you can control how long it takes them to figure out your password (if at all). It’s a digital jungle out there, so take the time to do what you can to protect your data.

In recent news Facebook has been under fire regarding the 30 million users who were hacked. Questions begin to rise of what will they do with information they stole? What specific information did they get their hands on? And more importantly, what do I do now?
Privacy continues to be privilege that none of us have anymore. But what can you do to better your chances of keeping your privacy while online? Make sure that your password is not something easily guessed. Commonly, people use names of pets or family members alongside numbers, or dates of birth. Even though it is Facebook’s responsibility to keep your information safe, it wouldn’t hurt to make sure you use all the privacy settings that Facebook has. Even if you weren’t one of the people who were logged out that Friday, it would be a great idea for you to go ahead and do all of this anyway. Here at Creative Consulting we want to make sure that all of your data is safe and secure and that’s why we provide your business with quality marketing and SEO that keeps your data safe as we run your business social media.
