Using Passwords to Fight Against Hackers

Using Passwords to Fight Against Hackers

Picture
With everything transitioning to digital these days, our means of protecting our data feels less within our control. However, we can take responsibility of protecting our information through the passwords we choose for our accounts. As a company who relies heavily on the digital world and technology, we at Creative Consulting are striving to understand and implement what it means to protect data from hackers who prey within the digital world.

While no one can prevent hackers from trying to steal information, one way we can keep them out is with passwords that cannot be easily guessed. This means no longer using the same three passwords we have all used since the seventh grade. That’s right, we know you are guilty of this too. The effectiveness of your password is just as important as the locks on your door or car, they prevent others from getting access to your information. How can we make sure our passwords are strong enough?

From what we have learned, length means nothing if it is something personal or easily guessed. A name of someone you know, or the name of a pet does not cut it in this new online world. You need a proper mixture of letters, numbers, capital letters, and symbols- these days some sites you log into will not let you use a password without at least one of each category previously listed.

Sadly, you cannot control if you are targeted by hackers, but at least you can control how long it takes them to figure out your password (if at all). It’s a digital jungle out there, so take the time to do what you can to protect your data.
